What Is Fluororubber?
Fluororubber is a synthetic high-polymer elastomer in which the carbon atoms of the main chain or side chains carry fluorine. The introduction of fluorine gives the rubber excellent heat resistance, oxidation resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance and resistance to atmospheric ageing.
These properties have made fluororubber widely used in aerospace, aviation, automotive, petroleum and household appliance applications, and it is a key material in the defence industry with few substitutes.
Since 1943, a series of grades has been developed: polyolefin fluororubber, nitroso fluororubber, tetrapropylene fluororubber, phosphazene fluororubber and perfluoroether rubber.
